Hunter Moody is an award-winning sound designer with over a decade of wide-ranging experience, from live theatrical performance to contemporary dance to academia. He also has specific interests in content creation and audio production for video games, themed entertainment, television, and animation.

A native Arkansan, Hunter first discovered the fascinating world of sound design in his undergraduate years at Arkansas State University. After graduating with a BFA in Theatre Design/Technology, he set out for the Appalachians in eastern Kentucky to join the 2013 summer season of Jenny Wiley Theatre as the sole A2.

 

With the advent of potential full-time work in 2015, he was re-hired as resident sound and graphic media designer, affording him the opportunity to design the sound for and engineer over thirty productions between JWT and the budding University of Pikeville Theatre program.

 

Since arriving at the west coast in 2017, Hunter has established himself as a Southern Californian sound designer with local companies such as South Coast Repertory, International City Theatre, California Repertory Company, New Swan Shakespeare Festival, and Chance Theater.

 

He currently serves as Assistant Professor & Sound Area Head for California State University, Fullerton's Theatre & Dance department.

 

In his free time, Hunter is an avid video gamer, nature enthusiast, and guardian to three wonderful cats. He also loves (trying) to bake new desserts for his husband Greg, friends, and family.
